Wow How Time Flies!

I can hardly believe its been 8 days since I have been able to post. Between being under the weather and getting ready for Elk Camp, I just have not been able to log on.

I am still sniffling but the cough is just about gone. I feel a lot better too.

Before I go any further. All anti-hunters please stop here. Please do not post any derogatory comments as they will be not be tolerated.

Elk season opened this weekend so we were off the the Tucannon for Elk Camp. Elk Camp is a campground on the Tucannon where my family and friends stay while hunting for Elk. I don't hunt actually, I am camp cook. Hunting for Elk is hard work. Last year out of 9 hunters not one Elk was taken. This year our group drew 4 cow tags. But so far only 2 hunters have taken any Elk. Both spikes. This area is spike only unless you have a cow tag. My mom and Sue had cow tags but when they saw a group of spikes they knew it was time to fill their tags. They were the only ones to even see an Elk all weekend. Elk are elusive creatures and hunting them is not for the weak and weary. You have to cover a lot of rough terrain just for the chance to see one.

Elk Camp is also a social event. We all ascend on the Tucannon with our travel trailers a few days before the season opens. Around a big camp fire ( in the pit furnished by the forestry service) in the evening, we gather to eat good food and enjoy the fun a laughter of great friends and family. It is so fun to get out into nature. No cell phones to ring and interrupt. Just peace and quiet.

Sunday as I was cleaning up after breakfast a group of Turkeys wandered through the camp. I tried to take pictures but user error on the camera prevented getting anything recognizable. They just walked right on through the camp and didn't even give us a second thought.

I picked a few apples Saturday and made an apple cake for dessert. It was a hit. My apple cake is divine if I do say so myself. I make a caramel sauce to go with it and serve over vanilla ice cream. Yum! There are apple trees that are growing on the Tucannon. I would guess they are from old home sites maybe. All I know is that they are good to eat. The deer and bear like them too. And no I did not see any bear.

We only get to stay the weekends. Mr Wonderful has to work and I had stamp class, an appointment with my massage therapist, and Bible Study on Thursday night.

Next year I am staying all week and cooking all day for everybody. I hope the have a camp kitchen set up then. I love to cook for a bunch of people.

This weekend I am making a brisket for Saturday night and Friday night, by request, we are having Gumbo. I am still working on the desserts but the menu is shaping up pretty good.

Friday's Menu
Gumbo
Rice
Cornbread

Saturday's Menu
BBQ Brisket
Baked Beans
Potato Salad
Rosemary Parmesan Biscuits.

I had stamp class on Monday night. We made the cutest acrylic album. If I can get the pictures to turn out I will post them. We all liked them so much we decided to make another one next month! We plan to give that one as a Christmas present. I definitely have some very creative friends. The stamping group that I belong to has some of the greatest girls. I love them dearly. It is so cool to go to our classes. We are like a family really. We get together to create some beautiful craft but what we really create is a haven for sisters. We know that we can count on each other for whatever need we may have whether is prayer for our kids, a sassy comeback, a shoulder to cry on, or just simply the gift of each others smiling presence. I love these girls and really look forward to our time together.

I have started light therapy today. My sleep therapist, aka, Mr Wonderful says it is a viable therapy to get one's circadian rhythms back to where one can sleep at night. I have tried everything even the sleeping pills. They incapacitated me for 2 days! And that was just a quarter of a pill. So they are not an option for me. So we are trying the Blue Light. I have to use it every morning so I thought that would be a good time to get on the blog. It kills two birds at one time so to speak. Today is day one we will see how this goes.

Also I am not supposed to get on the computer at night as the light from the monitor can interfere with getting to sleep. Ugh!! That is going to be hard to do.

I have so much to do today. Baking, cleaning, laundry, and I think I have a session this afternoon. So it is probably a good thing I can only sit under the light for 30 minutes. I really have to get going!

Over the Weekend

I got sick Sunday! No fun at all. Still not feeling so good but life does go on. My allergies have caused a sinus infection. So my head feels like it is about to explode. Eyeballs feel like they are bulging out of the sockets. My nose is dry and running at the same time and the nasal passages are on fire! And know it feels like the stuff is trying to go into my lungs.

The decongestant is not working at all. I hate to taking them. But to take them and then the don't work?? UGH!! I should have had my diffuser going with eucalyptus oil. It was clogged and I just didn't have the energy to get it going. So I finally got it going this morning. That should help some. I had to use my albuteral this morning. It always gives me the jitters. But at least I can breath easier. I am just shaking like a spastic now.

On to more interesting things. Went to my nephew's 15th birthday party BBQ Saturday. 15 teenage boys playing football. Sweat and testosterone, what a combination. Sweet kids but boy do they smell! I wish I could bottle their energy. It was a great gathering the boys playing football, the men playing football and us girls just sitting and visiting. 11 to 4 and the boys still were going strong. Not just the odor.

I cooked 48 hotdogs and maybe 12 were left. That is in addition to 2 cases of pop a case of chips, the single bags, and 2 cases of water. Oh and cake and cupcakes. How they can eat like that remains a mystery to every mom the world over.

It can really make one feel old to see that the cute little baby boy that one used to change their diapers are now becoming young men. They grow up so fast. But they are a lot more fun now. More work but more fun.

I love kids. My mom alway told me, " If you make a child your friend you will have a friend for life". My grandmother passed it to her. I find it is true. Some of my dearest friends are children. They see you for who you are and like you anyway.

A Busy Day

Mr Wonderful had to be at work early. So that means I had to get up early too.
I had planned to do some catching up around the house today. But..... There's that But again.
The toner at the office was blinking this morning and the girls needed a new one today. I had to go into town! Living outside of town makes the trip time consuming when you are trying to get things like the laundry folded and put away, the floor mopped, vacuuming, etc, all those little things that have to be done. Well they didn't get done before my afternoon sessions. UGH!! Left undone these things can drive me crazy.

I had 2 sessions scheduled for the afternoon. 2 turned into 3 so it was after 5pm when I got home. I walked in the door and Mr. Wonderful was almost finished folding the laundry. I almost cried. He really is wonderful! I put them away as he finished the folding. It was such a weight lifted off my chest to have that chore out of the way. I don't think he really realizes just what that meant to me. I told him but I don't think there are words to say how I felt.

My sessions were great. It is a warm fuzzy kind of feeling when you know you are helping someone to feel relaxed.

We went to watch the Kennewick vs Southridge football game tonight. Well I had fun screaming and hollering cheering The Lions on. Kennewick lost and that was not so fun. I screamed so much and now have a sore voice. Yes your voice can get sore. Mine does anyway.

We then went to my brothers and stayed too late. It was/is early morning and daytime is not too far away. I think I am getting to old for these late night outings. We did enjoy ourselves though. My sister in law is a great girl and always fun to be around. Family is a Good Thing. It is a Blessing.

Thursday Night Bible Study

We had a great Bible Study tonight. We are going through the dispensations. This week was the Dispensation of Human Government. From Noah to the Tower of Babel. There was 13 people tonight. We had at least 4 that were absent. 2 hunters and 2 grandparents waiting at the Hospital for their new grandson to arrive. Babies are such a gift of God.

I really like the atmosphere of our Bible Study group. Everyone has something to give and we all receive. What is so cool is the Kids! They are really opening up and asking questions and adding their "nuggets" that they have discovered. The Lord is blessing our group in such a cool way!

Mr Wonderful is the leader of our group. He is a Great Man of God. (I am a bit biased.) But the Lord is using him to reach those that are hurting and outcast from organized religion you might say. They just want and need JESUS! How can we deny anyone that? How can we contain it just to ourselves? Who are we to say "you are not good enough to be saved?" I pray I never develop that attitude. Jesus' sacrifice on the Cross was for EVERYBODY. He paid the price for me and all the rest of the world.

So we have to share the Love of Christ with anyone who desires it.

I am so blessed to have a relationship with the Lord. He has blessed me beyond my dreams. A Wonderful Godly Husband, two great sons, a lovely daughter in law and 3 of the cutest grandchildren. A mother and father that raised me with love and showed me the Love of Christ. Friends who like me for me. Friends that I can count on no matter what. A home, a truck of my own. Our two dogs Penny and Mojo. Even a vacuum. The little everyday things that we take for granted. I am Blessed!

I am also tired so Good Night!

Tranquil Feet will soon be a reality!

I saw Ted my Chiropractor on Tuesday. He almost has my room ready to paint. Maybe by the end of the month. Oh, I have a lot to do. Pick out the paint decorate. Get all the permits and license to have a business. Shop for blankets and towels. I am so excited.

I have always, well, since high school, been interested in Reflexology. A good friend of my moms gave us a book on it. Thanks Granny! Last year I really decided it was what I wanted to do. I told Mr. Wonderful and he was like "What is reflexology" I explained it to him. Then he said "if that is what you want to do". He has been so supportive of everything. He is Mr Wonderful! He has been my guinea pig. He gets his feet worked on a lot! I really am blessed to have such a man for a husband. But I digress.

I really enjoy my reflexology sessions. It is a good feeling helping someone to relax and de-stress. I think that I benefit from these sessions as well as my clients. I have to slow down and concentrate on the client. I think it takes me away from the stress of everyday life.

I am going to have Mr. Wonderful make a sign for me to hang up. He is a talented woodworker. I will hang it up beneath the Court Street Chiropractic sign that sits just in front of the Office on Court Street. Maybe have a small one for the door to my room. Something with feet on it!

Fireproof Review

I went to see the movie Fireproof on Saturday. I loved it. It was so nice to be able to go with friends and family plus a couple of teenagers and not be embarrassed by scenes showing more than need be shown. We all loved it. We laughed. We cried. We held our breath. We rejoiced. This is by far the Best movie that Sherwood Pictures has put out. If you liked Facing the Giants then you will love Fireproof. My 17 year old nephew said it was his all time favorite movie so far. He wants the DVD. We went to dinner after the movie and he was telling some friends about the movie, recommending it.

It is about time that a Christian movie made it to the big screen. This movie has a message to the people hurting and struggling in todays marriages. Not all marriages are in trouble but something can be gleaned to make even the best marriage better. But it can go even further than that. I can show people that they don't have to go thru live hurting and wondering if there is something better out there.

I have never written a review like this before. But. I feel that the Christian community should show Hollywood that we really would like more movies that did not have strong language, nudity, sexual content, violence, and even the strong suggestive themes of most movies playing in theaters today. The only way we can do that is by supporting films like Fireproof when they do come to our theaters.

I recommend this movie to everyone. So while it is still playing take the time to go see it. I plan on going again this week and take the rest of my family. (It opened here on Deer Seasons Opening Day)
