It is getting cold outside! It was in the 20's again last night. Even though it is cold the sun is shining. The alfalfa circles are frosted white, their green leaves muted with silver. It is beautiful.
With the cold means getting the woodpile ready for the winter. The wood pile is huge. It is in 3 to 6 foot lengths that have to be cut down to fit the stove. I like it 12 to 16 inches. Then it has to be split. All of this was supposed to have been finished this past summer but things have a way of getting postponed. Oh, well the wood shed is full of wood so it is not like we are going to get cold.
We went in on a big lot of wood last year with my folks. So Dad and Colton were supposed to have cut it all by now. But... Dad had to have a hernia surgery, and then he has just not felt up to it. Now we know why. He has 4 blockages in his heart! He has to go in and have stints put in after Thanksgiving and again after Christmas. So he can't do anything for a while. Just walk a little here and there. This explains why he has been grouchy. He gets grouchy when he doesn't feel good. It is a family trait. He has taken it pretty good so far. One phrase we hear a lot is ".... won' let me do anything". It has been a wake up call for all of us.
I have started somersizing again. Just started this weekend. I am also researching the Wii Fit. Sounds like it could work for me. I love to go to yoga but don't have the time when the classes are scheduled. I hate circuit training. Weight lifting is okay, but you need a spotter. And I just don't have time to go to a gym. It takes to long getting there and back again. Who has 2.5 hours to spare in the day? So the Wii is looking like a solution. The new fitness game coming out next month looks good too.
I am not a game person per say. Colton is an Xbox guy and his games are just... well they are not for me. I tend to get sea sick looking at the screen when it moves so fast too. Solitaire, Spider that is my speed on games:)
Thanksgiving is three days away. I have it easy this year. I only have to cook a dessert and make cranberry relish. I am bringing the plates, utensils, napkins, and table cloths. I love Costco! Disposable plates that look like china. You could wash them but I am not! And Mother isn't either! She did last year. Well, she didn't do the washing, Lorrie did that, but mom had to have them. They couldn't be wasted! I will break all of them if I have to.
Poor Lorrie, she washed and washed and washed. There were 20 or more of us there. I know she thought we were nuts. But she loves mom and well we all do, so we do what she wants. Usually.
We had a great Bible Study this past week. We had a new couple and their two children. New to the Bible Study not new to us. They are a sweet young couple who I have know a long time. It was great to see them there. Mr. Wonderful was outstanding this week.
I have never really had the chance to hear him teach until we started the Bible Study. I was always teaching the children. He follows the lesson pretty much but when he gets off of what the paper says and the Lord takes over.... Wow! I had to hide behind my hand out. I was just grinning and thinking WOW WOW!! The Lord is really doing a work within us.
I have to go get Turkey's for the girls at the office today and mail some organic chickens to our business partner. Costco could not get them there in time. Oh, well. The company buys Turkeys at Thanksgiving and Hams at Christmas for the employees. It is a tradition with Mr. Wonderful. He started it 15 years ago when he managed the local Lincare office. It is just a nice gesture of thanks and everyone seems to enjoy it.
Well the meat market opens soon so it is off to town. Who knows I may come home with a Wii.

Life can get so busy. Or, maybe it is us that gets so carried away with Things that we tend to rob ourselves of Life. I mean I get so busy doing inconsequential things that I have no time left over for the things that really matter most to me. Then I play the blame game and beat myself up over it. That is the one thing that really irritates me about myself. I think it all comes down to organization. I am so disorganized these days. It started right after I had my son. What is it about pregnancy that really changes a girl? Besides the weight and stretch marks I mean.
I have tried all sorts of thing for organization and well I am still disorganized.
But! I am determined to find the organized me! The girl who's floors you could eat of of, who knew where everything belonged and it stayed in it's place. The girl who never had to worry about unexpected guests because everything was straight in the house, and there were always fresh baked goodies to serve.
The doc told me she would find her way home. It seems that a hypothyroid left untreated for so long will rob a girl of herself. And since she left home so slowly she is just as slow coming back home again. Hopefully she will be way skinnier when she finally gets back.
Enough of this for now!
The Blue Light therapy seems to be working. I am sleeping lots better since I started it. I am feeling sleepy now at night. A big improvement.
We purchased an inversion table. Our hope was relief from chronic back pain. And the results are in.... it is really making a difference. We hang twice a day for around 15 minutes. I can go longer through out the day with out pain and that pain is not as severe as it used to be. Been hanging a week and so far so good. It even helps with the neck pain.
Elk camp ended with no one wanting to go home. I was teary eyed on the way home. I really don't want to have to winterize the travel trailer. It means no more camping trips until spring. I love to get out and go camping. I love the peacefulness about getting out of town and getting into the quiet of the woods. Nature. It is like getting closer to God. No hustle and bustle to drown Him out.
Since camping is out for the winter, I have been told I will be skiing instead. I have not put on a pair of ski's since before I was pregnant 15 years ago! Bunny hill here I come. But that does mean a new ski suit. I gotta lose some more weight before that shopping trip!
My friends and I are planning to start sommersizing. I like eating this way once I get off the carbs anyway. Funky carbs. I lost a lot 9 years ago and kept if off for 2 then went on vacation and had a few to many unbalanced meals that sent me reeling. I feel better eating this way. My skin looks better this way. My allergies are not as bad eating this way. No bloated tummy eating this way. Okay I want to eat this way again. Plus I love cooking this way! It is not really hard and it is delicious. So I think now is the time to start again. And stay on it this time. Having my two closest buddies doing it with me should be a great boost too.
It has been raining here the last month at least 4 days out of the week. Love the rain but it is getting to be a bit much. Of course rain is better than snow. Unless it is on the ski slopes. I don't remember a fall that has rained so much here.
Mr Wonderful has to be at work early tomorrow so I really need to get his clothes ready tonight and it is time to hang so...... I need to concentrate on those Things that matter again.

Wow How Time Flies!
I can hardly believe its been 8 days since I have been able to post. Between being under the weather and getting ready for Elk Camp, I just have not been able to log on.
I am still sniffling but the cough is just about gone. I feel a lot better too.
Before I go any further. All anti-hunters please stop here. Please do not post any derogatory comments as they will be not be tolerated.
Elk season opened this weekend so we were off the the Tucannon for Elk Camp. Elk Camp is a campground on the Tucannon where my family and friends stay while hunting for Elk. I don't hunt actually, I am camp cook. Hunting for Elk is hard work. Last year out of 9 hunters not one Elk was taken. This year our group drew 4 cow tags. But so far only 2 hunters have taken any Elk. Both spikes. This area is spike only unless you have a cow tag. My mom and Sue had cow tags but when they saw a group of spikes they knew it was time to fill their tags. They were the only ones to even see an Elk all weekend. Elk are elusive creatures and hunting them is not for the weak and weary. You have to cover a lot of rough terrain just for the chance to see one.
Elk Camp is also a social event. We all ascend on the Tucannon with our travel trailers a few days before the season opens. Around a big camp fire ( in the pit furnished by the forestry service) in the evening, we gather to eat good food and enjoy the fun a laughter of great friends and family. It is so fun to get out into nature. No cell phones to ring and interrupt. Just peace and quiet.
Sunday as I was cleaning up after breakfast a group of Turkeys wandered through the camp. I tried to take pictures but user error on the camera prevented getting anything recognizable. They just walked right on through the camp and didn't even give us a second thought.
I picked a few apples Saturday and made an apple cake for dessert. It was a hit. My apple cake is divine if I do say so myself. I make a caramel sauce to go with it and serve over vanilla ice cream. Yum! There are apple trees that are growing on the Tucannon. I would guess they are from old home sites maybe. All I know is that they are good to eat. The deer and bear like them too. And no I did not see any bear.
We only get to stay the weekends. Mr Wonderful has to work and I had stamp class, an appointment with my massage therapist, and Bible Study on Thursday night.
Next year I am staying all week and cooking all day for everybody. I hope the have a camp kitchen set up then. I love to cook for a bunch of people.
This weekend I am making a brisket for Saturday night and Friday night, by request, we are having Gumbo. I am still working on the desserts but the menu is shaping up pretty good.
Friday's Menu
Gumbo
Rice
Cornbread
Saturday's Menu
BBQ Brisket
Baked Beans
Potato Salad
Rosemary Parmesan Biscuits.
I had stamp class on Monday night. We made the cutest acrylic album. If I can get the pictures to turn out I will post them. We all liked them so much we decided to make another one next month! We plan to give that one as a Christmas present. I definitely have some very creative friends. The stamping group that I belong to has some of the greatest girls. I love them dearly. It is so cool to go to our classes. We are like a family really. We get together to create some beautiful craft but what we really create is a haven for sisters. We know that we can count on each other for whatever need we may have whether is prayer for our kids, a sassy comeback, a shoulder to cry on, or just simply the gift of each others smiling presence. I love these girls and really look forward to our time together.
I have started light therapy today. My sleep therapist, aka, Mr Wonderful says it is a viable therapy to get one's circadian rhythms back to where one can sleep at night. I have tried everything even the sleeping pills. They incapacitated me for 2 days! And that was just a quarter of a pill. So they are not an option for me. So we are trying the Blue Light. I have to use it every morning so I thought that would be a good time to get on the blog. It kills two birds at one time so to speak. Today is day one we will see how this goes.
Also I am not supposed to get on the computer at night as the light from the monitor can interfere with getting to sleep. Ugh!! That is going to be hard to do.
I have so much to do today. Baking, cleaning, laundry, and I think I have a session this afternoon. So it is probably a good thing I can only sit under the light for 30 minutes. I really have to get going!

Over the Weekend
I got sick Sunday! No fun at all. Still not feeling so good but life does go on. My allergies have caused a sinus infection. So my head feels like it is about to explode. Eyeballs feel like they are bulging out of the sockets. My nose is dry and running at the same time and the nasal passages are on fire! And know it feels like the stuff is trying to go into my lungs.
The decongestant is not working at all. I hate to taking them. But to take them and then the don't work?? UGH!! I should have had my diffuser going with eucalyptus oil. It was clogged and I just didn't have the energy to get it going. So I finally got it going this morning. That should help some. I had to use my albuteral this morning. It always gives me the jitters. But at least I can breath easier. I am just shaking like a spastic now.
On to more interesting things. Went to my nephew's 15th birthday party BBQ Saturday. 15 teenage boys playing football. Sweat and testosterone, what a combination. Sweet kids but boy do they smell! I wish I could bottle their energy. It was a great gathering the boys playing football, the men playing football and us girls just sitting and visiting. 11 to 4 and the boys still were going strong. Not just the odor.
I cooked 48 hotdogs and maybe 12 were left. That is in addition to 2 cases of pop a case of chips, the single bags, and 2 cases of water. Oh and cake and cupcakes. How they can eat like that remains a mystery to every mom the world over.
It can really make one feel old to see that the cute little baby boy that one used to change their diapers are now becoming young men. They grow up so fast. But they are a lot more fun now. More work but more fun.
I love kids. My mom alway told me, " If you make a child your friend you will have a friend for life". My grandmother passed it to her. I find it is true. Some of my dearest friends are children. They see you for who you are and like you anyway.

A Busy Day
Mr Wonderful had to be at work early. So that means I had to get up early too.
I had planned to do some catching up around the house today. But..... There's that But again.
The toner at the office was blinking this morning and the girls needed a new one today. I had to go into town! Living outside of town makes the trip time consuming when you are trying to get things like the laundry folded and put away, the floor mopped, vacuuming, etc, all those little things that have to be done. Well they didn't get done before my afternoon sessions. UGH!! Left undone these things can drive me crazy.
I had 2 sessions scheduled for the afternoon. 2 turned into 3 so it was after 5pm when I got home. I walked in the door and Mr. Wonderful was almost finished folding the laundry. I almost cried. He really is wonderful! I put them away as he finished the folding. It was such a weight lifted off my chest to have that chore out of the way. I don't think he really realizes just what that meant to me. I told him but I don't think there are words to say how I felt.
My sessions were great. It is a warm fuzzy kind of feeling when you know you are helping someone to feel relaxed.
We went to watch the Kennewick vs Southridge football game tonight. Well I had fun screaming and hollering cheering The Lions on. Kennewick lost and that was not so fun. I screamed so much and now have a sore voice. Yes your voice can get sore. Mine does anyway.
We then went to my brothers and stayed too late. It was/is early morning and daytime is not too far away. I think I am getting to old for these late night outings. We did enjoy ourselves though. My sister in law is a great girl and always fun to be around. Family is a Good Thing. It is a Blessing.

Thursday Night Bible Study
We had a great Bible Study tonight. We are going through the dispensations. This week was the Dispensation of Human Government. From Noah to the Tower of Babel. There was 13 people tonight. We had at least 4 that were absent. 2 hunters and 2 grandparents waiting at the Hospital for their new grandson to arrive. Babies are such a gift of God.
I really like the atmosphere of our Bible Study group. Everyone has something to give and we all receive. What is so cool is the Kids! They are really opening up and asking questions and adding their "nuggets" that they have discovered. The Lord is blessing our group in such a cool way!
Mr Wonderful is the leader of our group. He is a Great Man of God. (I am a bit biased.) But the Lord is using him to reach those that are hurting and outcast from organized religion you might say. They just want and need JESUS! How can we deny anyone that? How can we contain it just to ourselves? Who are we to say "you are not good enough to be saved?" I pray I never develop that attitude. Jesus' sacrifice on the Cross was for EVERYBODY. He paid the price for me and all the rest of the world.
So we have to share the Love of Christ with anyone who desires it.
I am so blessed to have a relationship with the Lord. He has blessed me beyond my dreams. A Wonderful Godly Husband, two great sons, a lovely daughter in law and 3 of the cutest grandchildren. A mother and father that raised me with love and showed me the Love of Christ. Friends who like me for me. Friends that I can count on no matter what. A home, a truck of my own. Our two dogs Penny and Mojo. Even a vacuum. The little everyday things that we take for granted. I am Blessed!
I am also tired so Good Night!

Tranquil Feet will soon be a reality!
I saw Ted my Chiropractor on Tuesday. He almost has my room ready to paint. Maybe by the end of the month. Oh, I have a lot to do. Pick out the paint decorate. Get all the permits and license to have a business. Shop for blankets and towels. I am so excited.
I have always, well, since high school, been interested in Reflexology. A good friend of my moms gave us a book on it. Thanks Granny! Last year I really decided it was what I wanted to do. I told Mr. Wonderful and he was like "What is reflexology" I explained it to him. Then he said "if that is what you want to do". He has been so supportive of everything. He is Mr Wonderful! He has been my guinea pig. He gets his feet worked on a lot! I really am blessed to have such a man for a husband. But I digress.
I really enjoy my reflexology sessions. It is a good feeling helping someone to relax and de-stress. I think that I benefit from these sessions as well as my clients. I have to slow down and concentrate on the client. I think it takes me away from the stress of everyday life.
I am going to have Mr. Wonderful make a sign for me to hang up. He is a talented woodworker. I will hang it up beneath the Court Street Chiropractic sign that sits just in front of the Office on Court Street. Maybe have a small one for the door to my room. Something with feet on it!

Fireproof Review
I went to see the movie Fireproof on Saturday. I loved it. It was so nice to be able to go with friends and family plus a couple of teenagers and not be embarrassed by scenes showing more than need be shown. We all loved it. We laughed. We cried. We held our breath. We rejoiced. This is by far the Best movie that Sherwood Pictures has put out. If you liked Facing the Giants then you will love Fireproof. My 17 year old nephew said it was his all time favorite movie so far. He wants the DVD. We went to dinner after the movie and he was telling some friends about the movie, recommending it.
It is about time that a Christian movie made it to the big screen. This movie has a message to the people hurting and struggling in todays marriages. Not all marriages are in trouble but something can be gleaned to make even the best marriage better. But it can go even further than that. I can show people that they don't have to go thru live hurting and wondering if there is something better out there.
I have never written a review like this before. But. I feel that the Christian community should show Hollywood that we really would like more movies that did not have strong language, nudity, sexual content, violence, and even the strong suggestive themes of most movies playing in theaters today. The only way we can do that is by supporting films like Fireproof when they do come to our theaters.
I recommend this movie to everyone. So while it is still playing take the time to go see it. I plan on going again this week and take the rest of my family. (It opened here on Deer Seasons Opening Day)
It is about time that a Christian movie made it to the big screen.
